As Casselberry's Hispanic population grows, cops
look to learn Spanish
The department is now giving officers Spanish lessons
for free.
The department is teaming up with a local church to
train officers to be proficient enough in Spanish to hold a conversation.
The church is making it easy to learn the language for
free.
The move is aimed at eliminating the need to wait for
a translator at traffic stops.
My thought about this would be that, if it is
necessary and so easy to teach Spanish to our police, why can't this also be a
two way teaching?
The church should also set up a training for
Hispanic's to learn enough English to help the police in an emergency?
