U.S. and Florida flags purchased for public use by the state and local governments would have to be American-made, under a bill by state Rep. Ritch Workman, R-Melbourne.

Made in Florida?

Just like the Water bottling plants, all of them, Pet treats, flags could be made by Florida's own companies?

Well DUH!

The measure (HB 201), filed Monday, would require American and Florida flags to be made from materials grown, produced and manufactured in the United States. If approved, a person found violating the requirement would face a second-degree misdemeanor.

No Senate companion has been filed to the bill, dubbed the "All-American Flag Act." A similar measure has previously been proposed in the U.S. House with the intention of stopping the federal government from buying and flying U.S. flags made outside the country.

The federal measure was initially filed in 2012 after the Los Angeles Times reported that in 2011 there were $3.6 million in U.S. flags imported into the United States, mostly from China.
