Osceola school board member fined over misused funds
Moral of the story
is, if you are an honest person wishing to run for office in Florida, don't
trouble yourself.
“If somebody can't
be trusted with money that their own supporters are giving them, why should
they be trusted with millions of dollars of taxpayer money,” Thompson said.
Thompson filed a
complaint with the Florida Elections Commission in 2013, after he got wind
Wheeler used campaign funds to pay for two events, including his son's bar
mitzvah.
Wheeler claims he
canceled the events, then put the money back in his campaign account.
He denied any
wrongdoing in an interview last year.
In 2011, Wheeler was
ordered to pay $17,000 in fines after the commission determined he broke
elections laws during his campaign.
A former board
member filed another complaint against Wheeler,
claiming he used campaign money for personal things
Wheeler went on to
tell the commission that the complaints are ridiculous because he's won four
elections in a row.
