We
must not forget what the republicans in congress both isles try to forget,
the
oath of their office!
The wording of the
oath was established in the first impeachment proceedings, the 1798 trial of
Senator William Blount: “I, [name], solemnly swear, (or affirm, as the case may
be,) that in all things appertaining to the trial of the impeachment of [name],
I will do impartial justice, according to law.”
The Senate tinkered
with the wording during the 1868 trial of President Andrew Johnson, changing
the ending to “now pending, I will do impartial justice, according to the
Constitution and laws: So help me God.”
There was/is nothing
in the 'oath' allowing for the
protection of their (Money Tree, trump)!
Or
The protection per
chance of losing votes in their home state!
